“May the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and thankful” (Psalm 68:3).
“This looks like a group of talent scouts for a cemetery,” he said, looking at the faces of the Sunday morning crowd. He was a comedian and he was trying to be funny. But in many instances, he was telling the truth, wasn’t he?
I don’t know the reasons people have long faces on Sunday mornings, but I know five reasons all Christians should be happy.
- We have been justified. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23-24).
- We have peace. Jesus said to his followers, as he thought about having to leave them, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. . . Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 15:27).
- We have access. “. . . we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through who we have access by faith into his grace in which we now stand” (Romans 5:2).
Access means door. If you’re not happy in Jesus, go through the door, and tell him all about it. He hears and answers prayers.
